Police Say Man Defrauded People in Name of Charity
posted 1:15 pm Fri January 11, 2008 - Millersburg, Dauphin County
Police say a Millersburg man who claimed to represent local churches while collecting money for the "Toys for Tots" program was not affiliated with the charity or the churches. Edward J. Bradley, 52, was arrested and charged with theft by deception and criminal attempt to commit theft by deception. He was placed in Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Bradley allegedly solicited donations from several businesses and residents and did not turn over the money he collected to the charities he claimed to represent.

abc27 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Police are asking anyone who was approached by Bradley and asked to make a donation, or any person who actually gave a donation to Bradley, to call the Millersburg Police Department at 717-692-4713.

If "Ed" said he was collecting money for Toys for Tots, he was defrauding people. No matter how he used the money, he wasn't buying toys. I can't imagine why anyone would give money for this program, after all it is not called Cash for Tots!!! I have never seen a Marine collecting cash although I have seen them collecting toys. Didn't this wave a red flag to anyone that he asked for a donation? How many years has he been doing this before someone finally caught on to him? One final thing God Bless our service men and women.
