12 People Homeless After Row Home Fire
posted 5:08 am Mon January 14, 2008 - Wormleysburg, Cumberland Co.
Fire broke out Sunday around 4:20 p.m. at a rowhouse on Poplar Road in Wormleysburg. The fire reached three alarms at one point. Crews had some issues fighting the fire at first because they couldn't attack the blaze from an elevated position. We're told firefighters had to wait until power to the area was shut down.
The fire apparently started in one rowhouse and quickly spread to three others because of a common area just under the roof. The building is an older structure and has an open area. That space reportedly allowed the flames to travel and damage all four units.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters or residents. Though twelve people were left homeless. The Red Cross is helping the victims.
There's no word yet on what sparked the blaze. The investigation continues.
