State police have identified a truck driver wanted in an incident that prompted police activity on Interstate 81 from Carlisle to the East Shore Thursday. Johnny Lee Smith, 25, is accused of struggling with troopers, stealing a car, and transporting an estimated 200 pounds of marijuana.
Smith, whose last known address is in Dallas, Texas, was stopped in the northbound lanes of I-81 in South Middleton Township Thursday morning because his truck did not have a license plate. Police said Smith acted suspiciously, so the trooper requested a drug-sniffing dog which indicated drugs might be in Smith's truck cab.

When they tried to arrest Smith, he scuffled with the two troopers and took off on foot. "He was able to get away by actually pulling out of his shirt," Trooper Karl Schmidhamer told reporters.
Police said Smith then made his way to Manny Rillo's house less than a mile away and near the well-known restaurant she used to own. Smith told her he needed the keys to her car because he was making a delivery and it was in his way.
Rillo said she was expecting packages and obliged. "I handed him my keys," she told abc27 News. "Then I waited for him to come in. And I go outside, no car."
State and local police secured all exits of Interstate 81 in the area and kept watch for Rillo's blue Volkswagon Jetta, but they did not find Smith.
State police later searched Smith's truck cab and found an estimated 200 pounds of marijuana hidden in four suitcases.
