Twenty four Messiah College students were on board an American Airlines plane that had to make an emergency landing Wednesday in West Palm Beach, Florida. The plane had just left Puerto Rico headed for Philadelphia. Students say they smelled smoke in the plane and then the lights went out. Stewardesses were running up and down the aisle with fire extinguishers.
The plance landed safely with just a cracked cockpit window. Passengers were loaded onto another plane, which then made the flight to Philadelphia.

Seven people sustained minor injuries, but no Messiah students were hurt. They had been returning from a mid-winter break abroad.
