York, Pa - Many local hotels are almost sold out with people attending the inauguration in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.
According to those with the York County Convention and Visitor's Bureau, many hotels around York and the Maryland line are at capacity.
Shannon Duick at the Holiday Inn in West Manchester Township said they have people staying there from New York, Ohio and Florida. She said people started arriving Sunday and they've had extra staff working.
Duick said a group of high schoolers from Florida asked to have breakfast at 3 a.m. Tuesday morning so they can get on the road for Washington.
"Those kind of things are a little bit unusual for the hotel, but we certainly are able to be dynamic and make it work for them," Duick said.
Local bus companies were also busy Monday getting ready to bring guests down to Washington.
John Bailey, who owns Bailey Coach in York, said he's been preparing for the trip since late November. Bailey said they're sending nine buses which will carry about 420 people. Most of the buses are leaving from Harrisburg and Aberdeen, Maryland.
"The inauguration is special. It only happens every four years," Bailey said. "So to be a part of history, so to speak, is really kind of neat."
Bus driver Danielle Zrinski said she's not worried about the crowds of people or the traffic. She's looking forward to driving people to such a historic event.
"I figure we'll have a great time," Zrinski said. "It will be fun."
