Teachers in the Cumberland Valley School District voted to give their negotiating team the authorization to call a strike if they deem it necessary. The vote came after the negotiations team rejected the board's latest contract offer during a meeting Wednesday night.
The teachers union is seeking a 4.9% salary increase each year for four years while the the board is offering 4% in the first two years and 4.25% in the third and fourth years.

Cumberland Valley teachers have been working without a new contract since June 30, 2007.
