Ron Feldman would love nothing more than to be running alongside his dog, Bobo. Unfortunately he can't. Ron hasn't been able to do much of anything since 1990 when his doctor diagnosed him with multiple sclerosis. He had to quit his job planting trees, a job he loved doing.
Ron can go out. He can drive, but those days are few and far between. Part of the reason is the ramp outside. "Even with my canes, I can't walk up it on my bad days. It's that steep," Ron stated. "I can't go up it with the wheelchair. I have this thought in the back of my mind.. it might flip over. Then where would I be?"

Inside, Ron and Bobo get around on the scooter just fine. But narrow doors are a problem. "It's very hard to get the scooter in and out. I can do it.. but it's very tricky."
Ron is looking for a neighbor to help him get rid of these obstacles which would give him more freedom. In the meantime, Ron and Bobo will keep on lifting each other and taking things one day at a time, life best friends do. "To me.. everyday's a bad day. But I take no thought for tomorrow, 'cause I don't know if it will come."
Ron also has a shower seat that he made himself, but it is not very safe. He says he nearly flips every time he sits on it. If you can help with a new one, make his ramp a little less steep, or widen his interior doorways then call the United Way at 724-4078.
