oncrn61 - are you kidding me? I, too, am very familiar with this family (probably more than you realize). Whether this was "out of character" for her is totally besides the point. She's a thief. Period. The fact that she did this more than once should speak for itself. For a mother to put her children in this type of situation, is embarrassing and unspeakable.

I am an acquaintance but not a personal friend of Kristen and her family. I also consider myself to be a pretty good judge of character. While I am not condoning what Kristen did, I am certain that Kristen is not a thief. I believe that this was very out of character for her and that it was done out of desperation due to a situation in which she felt totally out of control. Again, I agree that stealing from children is an awful thing to do and that there most certainly needs to be repercussions. From what I understand from the press, she is making full restitution. I believe that Kristen is a good person that did some bad things. Who among us has not made mistakes?

Embezzlement almost seems to be at an epidemic stage in this area. Almost every year another case of some middle class, white woman, volunteer treasurer absconding with donated funds hits the news. One year its the local fire company, the next its a local PTO. I am curious to see if the courts will do more than the typical slap on the wrist punishment (an apology, probation and restitution of funds) and hand out something a bit more of a deterent like jail time and a hefty fine. This woman didn't seem to have any problem hiring an expensive lawyer and will probably be back preying on the community again soon. One would think these small non-profit organizations would learn the lesson and start auditing their finances a bit more often. Semi-annual or even quarterly audits would seem to be prudent in view of the frequency of these crimes occuring. With the lottery and all the gambling casinos popping up around us I would hope these organizations took extra precautions as these embezzlers might just be voluteering in order to feed a gambling addiction. The lawyer got his fee and we still have to listen to his nonsense about how sorry she is and how much she is suffering - give us a break and spare us your meaningless rhetoric.

Elmer, attorneys say whatever they're paid to say. The sad part is that between carlisle having the courthouse and a law school in the same town, we are swimming with them. I have to believe that defending low-lifes for a living is something that they will all have to answer for some day. I know that most of them hold themselves higher then all because they are "defending" constitutional rights, but there's simply no way to defend the lying and maneuvering that most of them do for the sake of "defending" their clients. The simple truth is that this women deserves a year or so in prison and it's doubtful she'll get it simply because despite the fact that she steals for a living, she also appears to be able to afford expensive attorneys.

cerving, she probably got it from the collection basket at church.

Wonder where she got the 12K to pay back the PTO???

Lock her up for a long time, She 's a thief , twice she has stolen. But don't let her near any money!!!!!

Elmer
"It was a mistake" according to her attorney. No, it wasn't a mistake. It took intent on her part to take the money. Why is it that defense attorneys always offer up excuses for their clients?

I say all the PTO's should be checked and start with Letort. The President is also the Treasurer. The Vice-President took a few fund raisers home for inventory where it always came back short of inventory.

CarlislePa
Paying back the money doesn't negate the crime. Please just LOCK HER UP already.

I just pray that Ms. Trolinger doesn't have any children that attend the school district. If she does, it's the children that I feel sorry for...what a "role-model" as a mother, not to mention the embarrassment factor.
