Eighteen people were evacuated from their homes along Creek Road in Shermans Dale Wenesday morning. The Sherman Creek flooded, trapping residents. Dawn Shenk was in the first rescue boat with her 2-year-old daughter, Madison.
"The boat ride was the worst because we were scraping and we almost hit a couple trees," Shenk said. "The boat ride was the worst."

Shenk, who is 5-months-pregnant, was also worried about her boyfriend, and their Great Dane, Dante. They were also evacuated by boat. "He's still a puppy so he's not trained real well," Shenk said. "I was afraid he was going to jump off and go swimming and we'd lose him down the creek somewhere...but they made it."
Shenk said the water rose fast, and without warning.
Lori Silva was also evacuated with her son, Joshua.
The ordeal was enough to make her want to move.
"Actually I'm going to get a paper to look for a different place to live," Silva said. "I'm leaving."
Rescue workers were able to save Silva's dog, Sampson. He was trapped in a tree in the back yard, with only his head above water.
"They rescued my dog for me, which was so nice, because they didn't have to do that," Silva said.
Amazingly, the homes did not suffer any damage.
