More than 3,000 voters packed the gymnasium at Millersville University to see presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton Tuesday night.
Some came to support her candidacy. Others came to help them decide who to vote for. "I'm an undecided voter," said Millersville student Darryn Deshong. "Maybe she'll change my mind."
Hillary spoke for about 45 minutes. She did not take questions from the audience, which disappointed some who thought the speech was billed as a "town hall meeting."
Among the issues Clinton covered were health care and education. She asked students what the interest rate is on their student loan payments. Some yelled responses.
"23 percent," Clinton said. "That is outrageous."
Clinton also spoke about ending the war in Iraq (web|news) . "I believe it is time we bring our sons and daughters home, and I believe that is the only way we will get the Iraqis to take responsibility for their own future," she said.
Lancaster County is historically a very strong Republican area. However, pollsters say more and more Democratic voters are moving into the county. Many say Hillary sees that new surge as an opportunity to strike.
After the speech, Darryn Deshong still wasn't sure who he will vote for. He was, however, very impressed. "I'm sort of swaying toward her," Deshong said. "She's an American icon."
