Harrisburg, Pa. - Federal prosecutors say a Perry County man who crashed his car on a military facility during a high-speed chase will spend 15 months in prison for destruction of government property.
Brandon Palakovic, 19, of Shermans Dale, was sentenced in federal court Thursday. In addition to prison time, he must also pay more than $6,000 for the damage caused in the August 15, 2008 crash.
U.S. Attorney Martin C. Carlson said Palakovic was driving without headlights on the Carlisle Pike near Mechanicsburg when police tried to stop him.
Palakovic fled at a high rate of speed while ignoring traffic lights and, in an effort to get away from police, drove onto the Naval Inventory Control Point where he struck a set of railroad tracks, went airborne and collided with a park military vehicle, Carlson said.
