This year's abc27 Midstate Home Makeover is underway. The Litschi family moved out of their Myerstown home Friday night. Builders have moved in and are hard at work.
The sun came up Saturday on day two of this year's abc27's Midstate Home Makeover at the Litschi house.
Jeff Musser, of Musser Homebuilders, explained, "Usually this would take about five months. This is a pretty big one. And we're doing it in seven days."
The major project was crushing a side-building and getting rid of it. Roofing work also began.
"There's some wood damage up there. I mean it's a pretty old house," explained Greg Whary with Whary Roofing. But he added, "The folks who live here were given talents to take care of kids and we've been given talents to work in construction."
Volunteers arrived to clean off the outside, by powerwashing. They also sealed up the inside with foam insulation.
Tammy Richwine, with Turbo Tex Restoration, said, "We're here to give back to the family just like everyone else is here to do."
Drywall was tacked by John Dillon, with Dillon Drywalling, "It's nice to help people out who need it and who deserve it, really."
The work was intense and the passion was even more intense.
"The guys are really excited to be here. I mean people are putting a lot into this and are really excited to be here," said Jeff Musser. "What we do for their home is important. But what we do for their lives is so much more important.
