The manhunt has ended. The third suspect in the shooting death Saturday of Philadelphia police Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski is in custody.
Acting on a tip, police closed in on an abandoned Southwest Philadelphia row house late Wednesday night and captured 33-year-old Eric Floyd and a woman identified as his girlfriend. The two were found in a second-floor bedroom of the boarded-up house shortly after 11 p.m.
Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey says Floyd was unarmed and did not resist. Mayor Michael Nutter told a news conference early Thursday he confronted the suspect as he arrived in a van at police headquarters and voiced disappointment "as one African-American male to another."
Floyd was wearing Liczbinski's handcuffs. Ramsey said, "It's a way of just paying tribute to the slain officer."
