York County property owners were concerned that they would have to foot a big bill to fix a sewage problem. Now Shrewsbury Township supervisors say they are looking for a way around that.
Officials unveiled a $1.3 million plan to install public sewer lines. Residents in the Seitzland area found out they might have to pay up to $40,000 per household for the new public sewer system.
Wednesday night, township leaders said they can not put that financial burden on the home owners. They are looking into alternative solutions such as a localized treatment system for the Seitzland area. Township leaders are also trying to secure grant money to help pay for the upgrade.
