York, Pa. - A nine-year-old girl was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in York, according to city police.
The victim has been identified as Ciara Savage of Lancaster. Police said she was visiting her aunt when she was shot in an apparent "drive-by" shooting.
Police said the girl suffered a single gunshot wound to the back at around 2:30 p.m. in the 500 block of South Duke Street. She was taken by a relative to York Hospital before emergency personnel arrived and died from her wounds a short time later, according to Lt. Tim Utley.
Police spent several hours collecting evidence and taking photographs. Utley said city detectives are actively following leads, but have made no arrests.
Police said they have identified a vehicle of interest in the shooting.
