Call For Action Pays Off
"After six months of just torture, I'm just so happy," Baird said.
Baird bought a warranty on all her household appliances from a third-party company. Then her old washer went on the fritz. She tried to get the warranty company to help, but it was tough to find parts for the older washer.
"The policy said they would either fix it or replace it," Baird said.
Baird called Call For Action volunteers, who then contacted the warranty company. A check for Baird's new washer arrived a week later.
"One call. One call and it was taken care of," Baird said. "I couldn't believe it."
Lille Gearhart of Steelton paid $231 in cash to order satellite TV, but changed her mind the next day and went with cable. For months, she tried to get back the badly-needed deposit.
"Especially in my situation," said Gearhart. 'My husband is retired and disabled."
Gearhart got on the phone with Call For Action.
"It took four months and a call to Call For Action got the process going. Within two weeks, we got our refund money," she said.
Call For Action offices are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The number is 717-214-9187.
