State College, Pa. (AP) - Linebacker Sean Lee and quarterback Daryll Clark have been elected captains of the Penn State football team.
Lee and Clark were selected by their teammates after spring practice. Their election was expected, and the team made it official with a statement Tuesday.
Lee was an honorary captain last season despite sitting out the year because of a right knee injury. He was one of the Big Ten's top linebackers in 2007.
Clark excelled in 2008 in his first year as the starting quarterback, sparking the spread HD offense and bolstering Penn State's run to the Rose Bowl.
Penn State did lose many key players from last year's team to graduation. Lee and Clark are two of 10 starters returning for 2009.
