Harrisburg, Pa. - State police will slow down traffic on a section of Interstate 81 in Cumberland County tomorrow morning to conduct a test blast for the Exit 44 Improvement Project.
PennDOT said northbound and southbound traffic will be slowed between Exit 37 (Newville) and Exit 47 (Hanover Street), starting at around 9:45 a.m., to keep the blast area clear of any vehicles.
Traffic will be returned to normal as soon as workers determine there is no debris on the interstate, PennDOT said.
As part of the $37 million improvement project, workers will reconstruct existing ramps and the bridges carrying I-81 over Route 465, build a new ramp and widen Route 465. The overall project is expected to be completed in late 2010.
