Police in York County arrested three men accused of stealing $91,000 worth of copper wire from a Carroll Township business last year.

Rick Eckert, 29, of Wernersville, his brother Ralph Eckert Jr., 30, of Dillsburg, and Brandon Butler, 20, of Dillsburg were charged with theft by unlawful taking, burglary, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy.

Police said the three were involved in the theft of of copper wire from Morris Pipe Industries on December 13, 2007. They then traveled to Berks County, where they burned the insulation off the wire and sold the copper to several scrap dealers, police said.

Rick and Ralph Eckert were placed in York County Prison. Butler was released on unsecured bail.

What a set of losers....I'm sure their parents must be mighty embarassed by the actions of their ADULT children.
Instead of putting them inprison and letting them rest on their butts....make them work a chain-gang ,12 hours per day , hard labor , until they've paid off the exact dollar amount that they stole from the area business's. (Minimun wage rate for labor.)  Maybe then they'll think MORE than twice before they do something as stupid as this again.
