Democratic state lawmakers are pushing for legislation they say will reduce the effect of the mortgage foreclosure crisis in Pennsylvania.
One bill would establish a fund to help the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency provide homes for people with low or moderate incomes, the elderly and the disabled.
Other bills would help homeowners replace adjustable-rate mortgages with more stable fixed-rate mortgages.
Eligible homeowners could receive grants of up to 25-hundred dollars to pay closing costs to switch to a more affordable home loan.
Officials say there are currently more than 200-thousand subprime mortgages in Pennsylvania.
