Police have arrested three suspects in connection with two weekend robberies in Harrisburg.

Michael Duane Taylor, 18, of Lower Paxton Township, and two 15-year-old boys from the city were taken into custody on Monday, according to Harrisburg Mayor Stephen Reed.

Taylor was charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery and placed in Dauphin County Prison. The two teens were placed in the Schaffner Detention Center on the same charges.

The first robbery occurred Saturday at 10:43 p.m. in the 200 block of North River Street. Reed said the victim was walking down the street when a man exited a black SUV, assaulted him, and then fled in the vehicle when passersby began walking towards them. The victim received minor injuries in the incident.

Less than a half-hour later, a man walking in the area of North 2nd and Union Streets reported that two males exited a black SUV, threw him to the ground, stomped on him and stole his wallet. The suspects then fled in the vehicle. The victim also received minor injuries in the incident.

Harrisburg Police Chief Charles Kellar said despite the arrests, extra patrols in the Midtown area will continue.

"At this point, I think we have a handle on it," Kellar said. "That doesn't mean that you let your guard down. You should always be careful. If you're out at night, carry a cell phone, be aware of your surroundings, and if you see a group that you're uncomfortable with, get to a well-let area. If something starts to happen, make somebody see what's happening so they can call for assistance."

Reed said police are investigating whether the juveniles were involved in other robberies in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call Harrisburg Police at 255-3131.

I vote for a little creative sentencing on this one.

It'd be nice if the judge sentenced them to get a beat down from dawn to dusk by those they assulted.

Put 'em in the stocks and let the lesson begin!
