State police arrested a man wanted on charges he slashed two people with a knife during a domestic dispute in Perry County this morning.

Forty-eight-year-old Alan Shoemaker of Etters is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and kidnapping.

Police said at approximately 3:00 a.m., he attacked 34-year-old Michelle Kantes of Camp Hill and 57-year-old Michael Witmer of Landisburg in the 500 block of Warm Springs Road in Spring Township. Police say Shoemaker was upset because Kantes did not want to date him.

Kantes and Witmer were punched and kicked in the head and body several times. Both also sustained slash wounds to the neck. None of the injuries are considered life threatening.

Police said Shoemaker also forced Kantes into his vehicle. He reportedly drove her to a nearby field, where he disposed of the knife.  From there, police believe he called a friend for a ride. That friend noticed something was wrong and called 911, according to police.  The van was stopped on North Front Street in Harrisburg, and Shoemaker was arrested.

Police believe that man's phone call may have saved Kantes' life.

Shoemaker is being held in the Perry County Prison on $50,000 bail.
