Carroll Township, Pa. - Flash flooding led to some anxious moments overnight in Perry County.
Four to five inches of rain caused Shermans Creek and smaller streams to flood their banks. Officials said Shermans Creek rose more than eleven feet in five hours.
Four people in two campers had to be rescued by firefighters early Friday morning after fast-rising waters surrounded their two campers which were parked along Shermans Creek in Carroll Township. Firefighters used a boat to bring them to higher ground. The elderly campers were wet, but unhurt.
In Tyrone Township, firefighters had to rescue a woman from her car after it stalled in high water that had flooded Route 850 near Landisburg. PennDOT closed the road for repairs after rushing water washed some of it away.
Emergency management officials said there was no serious structural damage in Perry County, but they did take numerous calls for flooded basements.
