Harrisburg, Pa. - The ramp from Interstate 83 north to Route 581 west in Lemoyne, Cumberland County will be closed to all traffic over the Father's Day weekend, the state Department of Transportation announced today.
The ramp will close at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 19 until about 6 a.m. on Monday, June 22.
PennDOT said the ramp closure is necessary so that concrete pavement repairs can be made and new rumble strips installed.
Northbound traffic on I-83 headed to westbound Route 581 will be detoured north on I-83 across the Susquehanna River to Exit 44-A (13th Street) in Harrisburg. The detoured traffic will then be directed onto the off-ramp for 13th Street, onto the bridge across I-83, and then onto the on-ramp to southbound I-83 and back to westbound Route 581.
In the event of inclement weather, the ramp closure may be postponed to the following weekend.
