Seven Valleys, Pa. - One day after heavy rains brought heavy flooding in parts of York County, many people spent much of Thursday cleaning up.
Dietrich's Farm and Nursery suffered heavy damage inside and out.
"At one point, we had more water in the building than there was outside," said owner Ray Dietrich. "It couldn't get out fast enough. Then, after it got in, it couldn't get out."
Dietrich told abc27 News that his flood insurance will cover the contents inside the building, but nothing outside.
"You stand there and you see your plants floating down," he said. "You know it's not covered, so what are you gonna do?"
The flood washed out a bridge and a portion of Route 616 in North Codorus Township. PennDOT crews spent the day making the two passable.
Across the street from Dietrich's, the Seven Valleys Fire Company responded to two water rescues Wednesday, but almost found itself in a 'rescuer rescue thyself' situation when the firehouse flooded.
"The night before, we are out and a lightning strike where I've never seen a lightning strike like that," said Fire Chief Larry Crouse. "Two nights back to back with Mother Nature. It's impressive."
