State College, Pa. - The Penn State Nittany Lions will play their first four games of the 2009 season in Beaver Stadium.
Penn State announced today that it will start its season September 5 against Akron, followed by a match-up one week later with old rival Syracuse - marking the Orangemen's first visit to Happy Valley in 19 years. The Nittany Lions renewed the rivalry at the Carrier Dome last year.
Penn State will take on Temple on September 19. The first three games are set to kick off at noon.
Penn State begins Big Ten play on September 26 when it hosts Iowa for an 8 p.m. game to be televised by ABC or ESPN.
Penn State announced start times for two additional games. The Nittany Lions will host Minnesota for Homecoming on October 17 at 3:30 p.m. and visit Northwestern on October 31 for a 4:30 p.m. game.
