State officials say a kitten dropped off last month at a farm in York County has tested positive for rabies.
Health officials say someone left the kitten near the Fisher farm on Valley Road in Etters around June 16. The kitten tested positive for rabies on Friday. Another kitten was dropped off at the same time and is being tested.
The state urges anyone who had contact with the kittens, their littermates, or the mother cat to call county or state health officials.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health says merely touching or handling a potentially rabid animal doesn't constitute exposure to rabies. But anyone who was bitten or scratched should seek medical attention immediately.
