When Charlie Bender decided to move into a new home in Silver Spring Township, he received some disturbing news. A peeping tom has been terrorizing his new neighborhood for years.
Charlie wasn't taking any chances. This week, he had a new home security alarm installed. It alerts his family if someone even knocks on their window.
"I think everybody is just more cautious," Bender said. "I think he's getting bolder."
Police say the prowler has struck more than 60 times in Silver Spring Township and Mechanicsburg. He has not been violent and has not tried to enter a home, but he is still a concern.
"We're not living in total fear or anything like that, but it's just a nuisance to know there's somebody out there that's prowling the neighborhood at night," said neighbor Dave Cwalina.
Fred Zeplin, who owns Zeplin Security in Camp Hill says he has noticed an increase in the number of clients from the prowler's target areas.
"What people are saying is they feel violated, they really do," Zeplin said.
Zeplin says if people don't want to invest in an alarm system, they should invest in outside lighting. He says a prowler will not enter a yard he can't hide in.
If you see the peeping tom, you're asked to call 911 right away.
