Vandals hit a historic cemetery in Franklin County - police say many of the markers date back to the mid-1800s.
Someone did $500,000 worth of damage to the Burns Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro. Not only were headstones overturned, but some of the really old monuments were smashed to bits by the vandals.
The oldest was dated around 1840, made of Italian marble and considered irreplaceable.
This is the second time the cemetery has been targeted. The last time was just a few months ago, but the damage wasn't as widespread. Police say they have leads in the first one, but no arrests so far.
The Franklin County Crime Solvers is offering a $2,000 reward in the case. You can call 24 hours a day and do not need to leave a name. The number is 263-3000.
