A Dallastown, Pa., man has pleaded guilty to posing as a Dunbar security worker and removing $379,000 from a bank in Howard County.

Thirty-eight-year-old Robert Flanagan is to be sentenced Sept. 19 on one count of felony theft. He faces up to 12 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Flanagan kept his old uniform after losing his job with Dunbar last September and then used it to fool workers at a Bank of America branch in Ellicott City on Dec. 13. The bank employees became suspicious when Flanagan tossed the bags of money into an SUV, instead of an armored van.

Baltimore County police say Flanagan attempted similar thefts in their jurisdiction. Flanagan is scheduled to appear in Baltimore County Circuit Court this week to face charges in one of those cases.
