Harrisburg, Pa. (AP) - The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board says the amount of tax revenue generated by slot machines rose nearly 25 percent over the fiscal year that ended June 30.
Revenues from the eight operating casinos was close to $965 million for the fiscal year, compared to nearly $773 million generated by seven casinos in 2007/08. The state's eighth casino, the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem, opened in May.
The Hollywood Casino at Penn National, which opened in February 2008, generated just over $229 million in the last fiscal year, compared to nearly $73 million in its first fiscal year.
