Harrisburg, Pa. - Police are reminding drivers to be extra cautious around motorcyclists after a deadly holiday weekend in which seven people were killed in six crashes between Thursday and Saturday.
Police say more motorcyclists are out on Pennsylvania's roadways now that the weather is clearer.
"Be aware there's more and more motorcycles and scooters out there," said Sgt. Robert Givler of the Middletown Police Department. "You just have to take the extra second or two to look."
Police say the first of the six crashes occurred Thursday night in Dauphin County. Ashley Nicole Aucker, 20, of Lebanon, was a passenger on a motorcycle that crashed along Route 25, near Picnic Road, in Lykens Township. Police said the driver, Jason T. Blouch, 26, of Lebanon, lost control and struck a guiderail, ejecting both riders.

Later that afternoon, police say two motorcyclists were killed in crashes in Lebanon County. Kevin E. Heist, Jr., 26, of Jonestown was struck by an SUV that crossed into his lane of travel on Route 72 in Union Township. Michael, Sharkey, 55, of Hummelstown, collided with a car at the intersection of Route 22 and Gravel Hill Road in East Hanover Township.
In Adams County early Saturday, Oneil Kuykendall, 23, of Orrtanna, and passenger Brigette Gove, 24, of Gettysburg, struck a utility pole in Franklin Township, police said.
Jeffery Keezel, of Dover, crashed along Old Trail Road in Newberry Township, York County Saturday night, police said.
