Dillsburg, Pa. - The bankruptcy of an Internet grocery coupon company is hitting some consumers in the midstate.
Chris Cox of Dillsburg told abc27 News she bought furniture in January at Sofas Unlimited on the Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg. She's upset because she never received $500 in free grocery coupons that were supposed to come with the furniture.
"It's the idea that this was their promotion, to get this certificate out to us, and nothing has happened." Cox said.
Cox was supposed to receive a $25 grocery coupon each month if she mailed copies of her grocery store cash register tape to an online company called Claim Your Groceries, which has filed for bankruptcy.
Not only did Sofas Unlimited use the company for sales promotions, many national companies did as well.
A spokesperson for Sofas Unlimited said, "We hope another company buys the assets of Claim Your Groceries and the new company will honor our promotion and mail grocery coupons to our furniture customers."
Cox says she hopes she gets something because the grocery deal was the reason she bought the new furniture.
