Christiana, Pa. - Police say a former employee of a Lancaster County company is charged with embezzling more than $180,000.
Christiana Borough police say Tiffany Ann Bleacher, 33, worked as a controller for Walter & Jackson, Inc.
Between November 2007 and May 2009, police say she wrote checks from the company's petty cash account and made herself the payee.
Police say Bleacher was responsible for reconciling accounts and was thus able to conceal her thefts. The embezzlement was discovered when the fraud department for the company's bank brought a large number of checks - payable to Bleacher - to the company's attention, police said.
Bleacher currently lives in Chestertown, Maryland. She is a former resident of Quarryville.
She surrendered to police this morning and was arraigned on charges of theft by unlawful taking. She was released on $50,000.00 unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 4.
