Harrisburg, Pa. - PennDOT is adding 10 traffic cameras across the midstate.
Federal stimulus money is paying for the cameras, which will cost $1.6 million, according to PennDOT spokesman Greg Penny. The cameras will help PennDOT keep a better eye on accidents so they can alert drivers.
Three cameras will be placed in York County along Interstate 83; at the Emigsville, Newberrytown and Route 30 exits.
Two cameras will be placed along Interstate 81 near Carlisle; at the College Street and at the Hanover Street exits.
Three additional cameras will be placed in Dauphin County. One will be located at the Route 22/322 interchange with Route 39 while two more will be placed along Interstate 81; at mile marker 79 just south of the Grantville rest area, and at mile marker 74 between the Linglestown and Manada Hill exits.
For the first time, traffic cameras will placed in Lancaster County. One will be at the Route 30 and Route 501 interchange and another will be installed at the Route 30 and Route 283 interchange.
Penny said the cameras should be up and running by this November or December.
Drivers can view the cameras online at
