Police in Harrisburg are investigating a series of burglaries in which at least three businesses were entered by breaking through the walls.
The burglar or burglars smashed through a brick wall at Munchies Market at Mulberry and Derry streets. At the nearby Neighborhood Market, someone broke in by kicking through the drywall - not once, but three times in the past two weeks. And at Angel's Pizza just down the street, someone got in Monday night through a hole that was put into the building Friday night when cash and cans of iced tea were stolen.
The pizza shop has surveillance cameras and motion detectors, but they haven't been much of a deterrent. Business owners are frustrated over the lack of arrests.
"Something needs to be done," said Angel Dalton. "This is not a bad neighborhood. It's not a bad neighborhood. There's good, family-oriented people. It's just a couple bad apples that are destroying it."
"Everybody's really nervous. You can't even sleep at night," said business owner Gary Kerstetter. "I mean, what's coming next, you know? So we're beefing up security a little bit. Some people are staying in their shops."
Police said it's likely the burglaries were all committed by the same group or individual.
