The Constitution Party is suing Pennsylvania's state elections chief, saying its candidate is unfairly being denied a spot on the November presidential ballot.
The lawsuit filed in Harrisburg federal court seeks an injunction to put the party's presidential candidate, Chuck Baldwin, on the ballot.
The lawsuit says the party submitted nearly 22,000 signatures to the secretary of state on Aug. 1, but that wasn't enough to make
the ballot. Last week, the Constitution party tried to add another 8,000 or so signatures.
They're asking a judge to rule that Pennsylvania's ballot access rules are too burdensome and violate constitutional protections.
A Department of State spokesman says it's reviewing the lawsuit.
