The City of Harrisburg is seeking donations of food, water and other materials for victims of Hurricane Gustav in Baton Rogue, Louisiana.
Mayor Stephen Reed said the residents of Baton Rogue are in most need of canned and boxed foods, bottled water, personal hygiene products, baby diapers, tarps to cover damaged or destroyed roofs and bath towels.
Cots, first aid supplies, blankets, inflatable mattresses, laundry supplies, portable radios, generators, storage pods, hand sanitizers and other baby supplies are also in demand.
Donations can be dropped off at City Fire Station No. 1 at 1820 North 6th Street from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. through next Tuesday. Fire personnel will be available during the collection hours to handle donations and to answer questions.
Reed said checks made payable to 'City of Harrisburg - Hurricane Relief Fund' will be accepted and used to purchase needed items.
