Reserve Marines from the Harrisburg-based Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, have arrived in Iraq (web|news) for a seven-month tour of duty, according to a news release from the United States Marine Corps.
Echo Company members on Saturday left the Air-Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California, where they had been training since May. They will be working as part of the security and stability operations of coalition forces in Iraq.
The deployment is Echo Company's second tour in Iraq and their third as part of the war on terror. The reservists were mobilized to Afghanistan in January 2002 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and again in March 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Echo Company is based in Harrisburg but has Marines Reservists from 12 states.
