According to those with the Realtor's Association of York and Adams Counties, the average selling price for a home in York and Adams Counties dropped six percent throughout the past year.
The price stands at $165,500, dropping from an average price of $175,625 in York County. In Adams County the average price is $204,290, dropping from $216,300.
The school district seeing the biggest drop in York County was Northern with a decrease of 21 percent. Red Lion had a drop of 13 percent, and South Western had a drop of 10 percent. In Adams County, Littlestown saw the biggest drop by 18 percent.
Realtors said so many homes are on the market that sellers are being forced to drop their prices to remain competitive. Also, since it's becoming tougher for a buyer to purchase a home because of stricter mortgage guidelines, sellers are also being forced to lower their prices.
"If you want to sell in this market, you have to be motivated and priced reasonably," said Tiffany Bullaj with Help-U-Sell Real Estate in Springettsbury Township.
Those with the Realtor's Association said despite the good buying market, home sales across York and Adams Counties are down 27 percent.

Just goes to show that the greed drove the price of houses far more than they should have been in the first place, this is why our government has to bail the country out. Wake up and smell the coffee, house prices are just coming down to the price they should have been in the first place.
