A group of antique car owners is willing to admit it - they're show-offs, and proud of it. And there's nothing wrong with that, especially when they turn their caravan into a classroom.
They rolled through the streets of downtown Millersburg on their way to share living history with a generation far removed from this kind of transportation. It's a 20-car caravan of antique vehicles, some dating back to the early 1900s.
They call themselves Varmints, short for Vintage Motor Touring Society, based out of the Lykens Valley area. Once a month, you'll find them on the road - sometimes just for the trip, and sometimes when invited, as they were by the children of Lenkerville Elementary School.
Students learned how the cars were built, what it took to drive them, and even how to start them. Even the big kids became little kids in a rumble seat, and for teachers, the visit by the cars segues well into a history lesson.
Anyone with a pre-1943 antique car is welcome to join the monthly tour. All that's required is a love for cars of that generation, and a willingness to share it.
