Chambersburg, Pa. (AP) - A central Pennsylvania businessman has been buried three years after being slain by an escaped convict.
Carl Ryder was buried Thursday in a cemetery in Amberson. His skeletal remains had been held by authorities as evidence in the case against accused killer Scott North.
Ryder's remains were released after North pleaded no-contest to third-degree murder last week in Franklin County Court. He was sentenced to 22 to 47 years in prison.
Police say North, who had once worked for Ryder, went to Ryder's house after walking away from a work-release job in Shippensburg in August 2006. Police say he then killed Ryder and stole his car and driver's license.
