Lebanon, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania soccer mom who packs a pistol is getting her concealed weapon permit back.

Meleanie Hain on Tuesday persuaded a Lebanon County judge to rescind the sheriff's revocation of her permit.

She had lost the permit after other parents complained last month that she was carrying her loaded handgun in a holster at her daughter's soccer game.

Judge Robert Eby says even though the law required him to give her the permit back, he questioned whether Hain showed good judgment by ignoring other parents' safety concerns.

Hain says she's satisfied with the result and expects she'll be back on the sidelines with her gun in the future.

ABC 27 Talkback: Soccer Mom Gets Gun Permit Back

I am glad for her that the system still works and she was able to have her Firearms License returned to her. However, I am I concerned that she feels that she needs to carry openly. Especially since she carries a CFL. Having a License gives you a lot more rights to carry a firearm. However, you also have a lot more expected responsibility. Unfortunately the laws can get very gray at times, especially in certain situations. In her case however, if I were her, I would not want anyone to know that I was carrying a firearm. I have seen personally to many times that Professionally Trained Officers and State Troopers have been disarmed due to being distracted by the person in front of them. All the while an accomplice is reaching for the holster strap and the weapon. My only advice and it is just that advice from experience. If you carry in the open, expect the general public which is ignorant and poorly educated about weapons to react with fear and negativity. That is the advantage of the concealed carry. You can protect yourself and the public goes on with their ignorant lives and no one is offended. To end, I am happy that no one was hurt during this incident. FACT Statistics prove that Armed Citizens live in a safer community. Just practice common sense when Carrying a weapon, and expect others not to understand.
