Lemoyne, Pa. - The West Shore School District was notified Monday that five cases of the H1N1 influenza, also known as swine flu, have been reported at Lemoyne Middle School, according to a letter sent to parents and a posted on the district's Web site.
The letter, from Superintendent Dr. Jemry Small, states the district is following guidelines provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control. The letter does not indicate if those diagnosed with swine flu are students, staff or teachers.
"Please be assured that we take the health, safety, and wellness of every student and staff member seriously," Dr. Small said in the letter. "We will continue to monitor this situation closely and work with officials at the Pennsylvania Department of Health."
