Belle Vernon, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man faces drunken driving charges after police and firefighters say he drove a burning van near Interstate 70.
Southwest Regional Police say the Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene of a vehicle fire about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, they spotted the van being driven toward the interstate.
Police say firefighters were able to get the attention of 47-year-old Carl Miller Jr., of North Charleroi, who pulled over the van. Police questioned Miller while firefighters extinguished the burning van.
Miller was treated and released for burns. Police say a summons for drunken driving will be mailed to Miller, who does not have a listed phone.
Belle Vernon is about 25 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
