Pittsburgh (AP) - A federal prosecutor in Pittsburgh says a retired appellate judge repeatedly lied to an insurance company to collect the bulk of $440,000 he received in a 2001 car accident.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian Trabold said in closing statements Monday that former Superior Court Judge Michael Joyce told an insurance company he needed surgery, lost out on a bid for the Supreme Court, and curtailed his active lifestyle all because of the accident.

Trabold says none of those things was true and asked a jury to convict Joyce of several mail fraud and money laundering counts.

The defense is expected to give its closing statement later Monday.

Joyce's attorneys have said the judge's injuries curtailed his active lifestyle or, at least, that the judge truly believed he was badly injured.

I hope justice will be served.  It doesn't matter if he is/was a judge, The President of the United States or just an ordinary person.  He should be judged accordingly.
