Turnpike Layoffs Start as Buyout Period Ends

Harrisburg, Pa. (AP) - The Pennsylvania Turnpike's chief executive says about a dozen employees are being laid off now that the period to accept voluntary buyouts is over.
Turnpike CEO Joe Brimmeier said Thursday that some 20 employees took the buyout. Exact figures on employee reductions are expected to be released later in the day.
Brimmeier said additional job cuts are expected over the coming two weeks.
The turnpike has about 2,250 employees. The reductions are needed because of falling traffic and toll revenue on the 545-mile highway system.

Riase the tolls a little. Doesnt look the traffic is downwhen you drive it. 20 people leaving should help taking a wild guess that they make from 40,000 to 100,000 a year.
