Dallastown, Pa. - Most of his customers know Justin Conway only as the cheerful young man who delivers their mail.
His daily rounds on the streets of Dallastown don't allow much time for chit chat, so his customers might not know that, while carrying the mail on his shoulder, Conway is often carrying a melody in his head.
At the end of the day, Justin Conway becomes singer and songwriter Jud Conway. His music is all original; a style he calls alternative country or "roots rock." Although he's already well known in the York area club scene, with the release of his first CD he's hoping someone further up the music industry chain might take notice.
Don't let the cover title fool you, the 37-year-old York County native is anything but "Southern Bound." "I would like to have my songs performed by established artists and I could still continue to reside locally and continue to have my career position here in York with the Postal Service," he said.
Conway's brother Dan produced the album and played bass on the songs all from his Washington, D.C. residence. With a new computer recording program, the brothers were able to enlist studio musicians from around the country who laid down additional instrumental tracks via the Internet.
Beyond the technology, Conway credits his wife for encouraging his dream and dedicated a song to her on the CD. So, no matter what happens next, Conway says he's already got three hits: a great job, a supportive family and a hobby that makes him smile.
