Harrisburg, Pa. - It may be the best looking Volkswagen ever built. CC stands for Comfort Coupe, but it's not a coupe at all. It's a sedan, based on the Passat, with a low roofline.
That low roof line cuts down on headroom, but the rest of the interior is great. The front buckets are covered in leather and are very supportive. The steering wheel tilts and telescopes for a custom fit.
VW's factory navigation is improved but it's a $2,000 option. The optional Dynaudio system sounds great and is worth the extra $1,000.
The dashboard has some neat concealed storage for gas cards and change. The six-speed automatic is very smooth.
The Passat CC luxury comes standard with VW's panoramic sunroof. The only problem is the sunroof only tilts up, it doesn't slide back.
Back seat legroom is also good, but it's strictly for two passengers.
The spring loaded trunk lid means hands free access. Even though the trunk opening is small, it's a very deep cargo space. A lockable pass-through is great for skis.
VW's 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder pumps out 200 horsepower for good performance. A V6 is available.
The CC has great handling, thanks in part to electronic power steering. Our heavily optioned CC luxury sticker price is $36,090.
This is car that breaks VW's reputation for conservative styling.
