Jonestown, Pa. - A crash involving two tractor-trailers killed one of the drivers and shut down part of Interstate 78 in Lebanon County early this morning.
State police in Jonestown say one of the tractor-trailers struck the rear of the other while both trucks were traveling in the eastbound lanes about two miles from the I-81 split. The crash occurred at around 3:30 a.m.
The driver of the striking truck was killed. His name was not immediately released.
His passenger, who was sleeping in the cab, was able to escape but was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown for treatment of serious burns from a fire resulting from the crash, police said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer struck from behind and a passenger in his sleeper were not injured.
I-78 eastbound is expected to remain closed in the area until about noon.
